Poll: Likely Latino Voters
By David Binder Research
KEY FINDINGS
A recent survey conducted by David Binder Research of 600 self-identified Latino voters in California demonstrates that Latino voters are a large, targetable, swing group in the Governor’s race, with more than one-third of Latino voters being undecided.
Republican Chad Bianco holds a large lead among Latino voters, receiving 20% support, with fellow Republican Steve Hilton trailing considerably at 6%.
Eric Swalwell (9%), Xavier Becerra (8%) and Katie Porter (7%) are the leaders among the Democratic candidates, with Steyer at 5% and Villaraigosa at 4%. The other candidates – Tony Thurmond, Betty Yee and Matt Mahan – each receive 1% or less of the total vote.
Below shows a summary table for all Latino voters and for Republican and Democratic Latinos. Over 40% of Democrats are undecided, highlighting the importance of each gubernatorial campaign making the case to this large, persuadable group of voters.
